Is there a recommended length of time you should leave a hen sitting her own eggs before underlaying them to another pair?
I put a pot egg under the pair that I planned to float them under then once the pair laid 2 I moved them under and put 2 pot eggs under the pair I moved fromDiamond Dave wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:39 am Is there a recommended length of time you should leave a hen sitting her own eggs before underlaying them to another pair?

Ah, cheers Mark. I forgot to say I am floating the eggs of my stock birds under the racers and I want the stockpairs to go back down ASAP.
I am thinking of the welfare of the hens and worried about them having 2 rounds in quick succession, especially as I have a couple of old girls in the stock shed.
I was thinking around 6 days but not sure if it should be more.......
