I put a pot egg under the pair that I planned to float them under then once the pair laid 2 I moved them under and put 2 pot eggs under the pair I moved from

Ah, cheers Mark. I forgot to say I am floating the eggs of my stock birds under the racers and I want the stockpairs to go back down ASAP.
I am thinking of the welfare of the hens and worried about them having 2 rounds in quick succession, especially as I have a couple of old girls in the stock shed.
I was thinking around 6 days but not sure if it should be more.......

We always used to float the eggs 10 days after the second egg was laid this gave the stock hens time to recover
