It's a good place, Bendigo, but it's changed in the last decade or so. It's growing rapidly and the 'big country town' feeling is changing. I can't get over the traffic there these days.
We go in quite regularly but I don't mind not living there now. It's peaceful out here in the bush.

My mate David sent me a pair to breed some youngsters for special ring races and OLRs.
This is the cock. He’s direct off his top stock cock Hawkeye. Straight Heremans. Nice pigeon 👍
He’s getting quite keen on the veggies 😁

Talking to David at the weekend and he asked if I had anything due to lay in the next couple of days?

Mmmm, mebe, I said.

Hawkeye's mate was due to lay and he's full up. I can have the eggs if I want them, you can't throw eggs like that way.
Suddenly I remembered I had a hen looking like laying again  They both laid on Sunday night and I'll pick them up this week.
A pair off a super breeder, for free! :D I've got the Billiondollar baby and a couple of her daughters, and another hen which is a double grand daughter of him, but you can't have too much of a good thing. :D
He's very generous and I'm am very lucky.

Talking to David Cox this morning, the VHA, the Victorian Homing Association, are flying their last race of the year from Tibooburra, way up on the corner of NSW, Queensland and the Northern Territory. It's about 600 miles to Melbourne.

He's put 2 of mine in, the two that both won from Coombah, about 295 miles a few weeks ago. Tibooburra is about 500 miles to Bendigo so it'll be interesting. He says they are both in great order. He reckons the grizzle just keeps improving. It's got a lot of Heremans and Van den Bulck in it but both it's parents are half Jos Thone' so it might be right there, especially with a tail wind for the first half.
The other one is by a brother of the Free Beer. He won a race and has left one that's won a race already and that family are well known for getting home regardless.
I'm looking forward to it. :D

Let us know how they get on Muzza. I'd be a bit worried about heremans or bulks getting the 600 miles and not sure if the Thone in them will be enough to get then home but will be very interesting and wish him well..

I'll report on how they go.
As I said it's about 500 miles to David in Bendigo.
You would think it would be mad to send Heremans type pigeons to 500 miles but the Thone' puts some stamina in them.
And the father of the grizzle is out of the Billiondollarbaby which is by Hawkeye. A few weeks back a Hawkeye daughter was on the result from 700 miles! And he's straight Heremans! His children and grandchildren win everything from anywhere :D

The Free Beers are out of a hen that's half Heremans half Gaby. But once again the father is half Jos Thone'. A different Thone' cock. And they go 300 miles and stretch to 500. They are good pigeons but they haven't got that X factor that the Hawkeye puts in them.

The pair that David sent out for me to breed youngsters for the OLR and Breeders plate races hatched a pair of babies this morning. Horsham breeders plate rings hanging on the nestbox.
I went out this morning and there were egg shells all over the floor.
What the hell! I thought. Then I realised they were all empty. Babies everywhere out there. :D
