@bowbroom I see it as two different parts of the same sport but without commercialisation we wouldn't have ets in the first place and I think you will agree it better than the clocks? But I do see you're point to a degree money is a bigger factor in the sport now then ever before but the sport is also dying middle ground needs to be found
ETS was hailed as a saviour for the sport by many. I agree it does make marking easier, but on the other hand who needs to clock every bird? Top fanciers in the past didn't fill their clocks up. In my time using a manual clock I never saw anybody fill their clock. The question is did we really need ETS? I'm sure the sport would still be going without it, and marking would still be easier with less members now anyway.Rdhd Danny wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 10:19 am @bowbroom I see it as two different parts of the same sport but without commercialisation we wouldn't have ets in the first place and I think you will agree it better than the clocks? Think the fact every bird clocks and you have all that data on each bird is very valuable to the fancier, also ets allowed people who wasn't home to clock and compete still around commitments, also training data it's all valuable and progress imo

It allowed for me to collect more data any information from my training and racing etc!
There are pros and cons to every aspect really!
