@leon our fed was saying Sunday was more likely but I prepared for Saturday still! I feel you're pain
I've been caught out before but I'll prepare them for sat and if it turns to Sunday I find it easier to change prep after a decision then to change before, if that makes sense! But it's a nightmare in our role absolutely, I've had a great week training 2 stand outs that I feel will do me proud tomorrow fingers crossed for me and you

Feeding: 100% Power mix At 11Am Only meal of the day.

Note: One thing i haven't talked about yet i think is basketing day. which we have today.
My feed on basketing day fully depends on the time of basketing. Today we basket at 7:30pm which allows me to give another heavy feed because they have plenty of time to digest it before basketing. To me its super important to basket on an empty crop. Atleast to my knowledge its bad for the birds to be transported with a full crop. If basketing today was earlier lets say 2-3pm which might happen for the last 2 races due to the bigger distance. I tend to feed a lighter mixture on basketing day around 9am so it digests faster.
I Leave the drinker in the loft all day. I know plenty of other fanciers on basketing day who remove the drinker 5 hours before basketing and put the drinker in the loft again 1h before so they all drink properly before going in the basket. In my opinion this is a mistake. The birds need the water to digest their food. Not only that but a crop full of water also isin't ideal during transport.
Other then that basketing day here is pretty calm. I tend to pack the birds up about 45 minutes before we drive to basketing already and put the transport baskets into a spot with shadow. In my opinion reduces stress a little instead of packing them into the transporting boxes then straigt into the car. Might just be a thing in my head that it helps but thats what i like to do
Today makrs an important day its the 3rd race which is the first race which counts towards the combine and national championship and ace bird. The system is as following for the championship.
In your clock you have to mark 6 birds out of all the ones you basket. from those 6 birds the fastest within the 33% price cards that are given out count with a max of 3 of the 6. So the goal is to select 6 out of our 77 birds we basket today that we think will be the fastest and hope that 3 out of those 6 birds do actually come as the fastest. Then we work with Ace point system in germany Which 1st place gets 100 ace points and it gradually goes down to 0.1 for the last price card in the fed. So lets say tomorrow we win 2nd 10th and 33th with the birds we marked that would be about 270 out of 300 possible ace points. At the end after 4 races the max you can have is 12/12 pirce cards and 1200 ace points for the championship. But let alone having 12/12 price cards from those 6 nominated birds is already a task in itself. Selecting 6 birds from a big team like ours isin't easy and will all come down to how many price cards we win. If its like last week with 80 basketed and 58 price cards then of course the odds for 3 of the 6 nominated birds beeing within those 58 is high but it all comes down to races where the odds are against you and you dont perform 70+% of price cards.

I just hope you have picked the right 6 birds Leon, It is a system which i think is very good myself. It would be really good if your selections come into play, And you have good returns. being the winner would be really good for your hard work.

Well a mixed day yesterday 22nd fed out of 2k birds not what we wanted but the race has massive losses and thankfully we didn't lose any, you have to take the positives from it but really disappointed, liberation was moved from Huntingdon to decoy lakes something we was not expecting or informed about till last minute but we keep pushing forward @leon good luck with today

Yes heard from Anthony Webster it was a bad day yesterday, what the reason is nobody knows & yes those that put in 100% with the pigeons on a daily basis week in week out still have the same result, I guess at the end of the season whether yb racing is actually worth bothering with. Yes it's certainly turning into one of the worst years for yb, I think it definitely needs to be reviewed next year maybe move the calendar a bit but will it happen I doubt it! change is practically impossible in this sport sadly!
