I have done loads of times

My best years sprinting they had tea spoon every Sunday to 2 liters
Also done that for a full week before pairing
Was told by a very good fancier who is still today is winning Feds like clubs so I thought try it

Neil I wonder how many fanciers have copied a bad idea? I'll bet you and this very good fancier would still win races not doing it?
The Virkon S thing is another that was copied by many. It's a bleach NOT intended for drinking water. Made for the poultry industry. The poultry industry then added to drinking water (not recommended by the makers)
Fanciers fail to understand 99% of poultry live less than ONE YEAR. There are no long term effects for them.

I’ve never used it myself but when top notch fanciers say the do it does make me think. Of course you might well be right “in spite of rather than because of” but where do you draw that line? Feeding, training, loft environment, selection?

Not sure what your point is Steve, there are many and varied systems of management used by successful fanciers that obviously suits and works for them but nobody will ever convince me that adding bleach to the birds drinking water regularly is a good idea and for what it’s worth that’s my opinion others clearly differ

So after the race do they have just water on return as the first drink Neil, then later do you give them Vircon or iodine to eliminate any nasties picked up on the transporter .
Also do you vary what you put in drinker from week to week on return to your lofts.

When buying the Quill boost I had a look through their other products and noticed they sell a couple of water sanitisers that contain 5% hydrogen peroxide and can be added to the drinking water. Apparently kill bacteria, viruses, Fungi. They did sound good although obviously the hydrogen peroxide will kill good bacteria too. What's peoples thoughts on this?

I find it strange that fanciers don't trust Tap water (after all they drink it themselves) Why would you need to clean again, clean water? ALL sanitisers/bleach KILL will kill bacteria, good & bad. and Virkon S is a bleach NOT a sanitiser. The makers state NOT to be used for drinking water. (they make a sanitiser version for this)

Why would fanciers first KILL ALL the good & bad intestinal flora at the start of the week and then use a product to help promote it the end of the week. Week after week?

I have NEVER used bleach in the birds water.

I know a lot of people who don't drink tap water king But I do think along the same lines as you in terms of sanitisers and disinfectant in the water. But the fact that successful fanciers do it always makes me think. And I know you'll say they may be just as successful without it, again I probably agree but only a lunatic would change a winning system just to find out

Last year Mike got me back to virkon
After 5 days I could see a positive difference in the youngsters
