Does it really matter to you.
Have a well deserved break mate and wishing you both a great ChristmasAndy wrote: Tue Dec 24, 2024 4:16 pm Well that’s me closed up now for a couple of days. Reopening the day after Boxing Day. We were quite quiet today for Christmas Eve, but that was after one of our best days since we’ve had the shop, 20 years, yesterday.
Nice to have a couple of days off.
As far as the forum is concerned I think we can all move on now. I have been on this forum now for 9 years and I know it was going for a while before I joined. It has always been a very friendly site and I for one have made some good friends on here. We have lost a few good members over the years, Killer who past earlier this year and Magic due to health problems. We also lost a few when the site was updated a few years ago now and everyone had to rejoin and all the old posts were lost, which was a real shame.
Let’s just keep this a friendly site that ALL can enjoy and be part of, whether we want to be the best there is or just love having the pigeons and seeing them return from a race. We will always have our own views and will also disagree with some of others posts, and that’s how it should be. If there was only one way of winning or enjoying the sport wouldn’t it be boring. Unfortunately anything written in a text, message, email etc can be miss read, understood or taken the wrong way. I have had a running with Mike and to a degree with Neil, but am happy to forget it and move on and still read and listen to their posts, and am happy to answer or comment on any of their posts whether I agree or not.
So let’s continue to try to help others out to help them enjoy this sport to whatever degree they want.

I fall into the latter group, cards never meant anything to me the love of seeing them come back home and the taking part was enough for me, plus the social partTrev wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 10:07 am I'm afraid I haven't read every comment on this topic, but will just add my piece.
I think we just all need to remember that we are all very different and are all looking for different things from this remarkable hobby of ours, some of us are in it for the pleasure and pride of winning whereas others just enjoy having the birds around, seeing them home on a race day and the social aspect of club racing. So lets just accept that and be respectful of each other, so we can all continue to enjoy this forum and the sport we all love and enjoy.
Happy Christmas to you all![]()

That was the problem on the old Pigeon Chat. With bad pronunciation a post could be read the total opposite to what the poster intended.PeteDerby wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 9:23 pm With words being only 7% of communication (no body language, no tone of voice, no inflection of certain words) that means the written words on their own stand a 93% chance of being misunderstood. Well I can only speak myself Mike and as a new member of the forum. I don’t involved myself in such things as forum politics having had something of a history of upsetting people back in the late 90’s when the internet was first getting going.
My view today is that we’re all still getting used to the whole thing so we should still cut each other a bit of slack either way.
I for one am very grateful for your input and advice. I would much rather you or anyone else tell me if I’m being daft trying the things that I do. You won’t offend me because I know that I know nothing!

In my job I do a training thing on written communication. I write on a flip chart “I never said he stole the money” then ask the group what I mean by the statement. I then draw a line under the word “I” and read it out making an emphasis on the word I. I then ask the question is now? Right away people rely ‘YOU never said he stole the money but someone else said it’. I do the same thing with word said - the reply is ‘you never SAID it but probably thought it’. Do the same with ‘he’ and they conclude that I think someone else stole it. And so on.king wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:06 amThat was the problem on the old Pigeon Chat. Point being, those 7 words can have at least 4 different meanings depending on where the inflection is. I don’t want to come across as all smart because I’m not - in fact I’ve never sat an exam of any kind in my whole life.
I really value everyone’s input however it’s put to me, so thanks for that and thanks for putting up with me.
Because some folks just cannot let go they have to keep picking and picking, give George my best wishes mateDevo1956 wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 2:27 am Can i ask, what is this all this about? George as left the site,. And I guess he is not in the best of health at the moment,
