Re: Yb teams

Yes, some very informative stuff about the fanciers. I may appear slightly laid back and unconcerned, nothing could be further from the truth. I have a strong relationship with my pigeons, and they with me. I am always conscious of their health and well being. What I don't do is fall into the trap o...

Re: Thursday night / Friday

Thursday afternoon after flying they are fed in. As soon as some turn away the feed is removed.
Friday they are fed once, mid morning. As soon as a couple turn away, the feed is removed.
That's it.

Re: Anyone younger?

I think I was about 6 when I first saw pigeons on the platform at Christchurch railway station, waiting to go on the train. Fell for them on the spot.
My father built a little which I filled with anything I could find.
It was many years before I had my first racing pigeons.

Re: Anyone younger?

At what age did members have their first encounter with pigeons? Some of our old members would probably have seen this photo. e4437185-ca61-4e97-b5c4-84f721e69c0b.jpeg This is me with mine and Trev’s dad. I was born in 1962 so probably taken in 1963 at about a year old. 🙂🙂. Wow! great picture Andy!

Re: Life in Bealiba.

Thanks Trev, a bit of rain won't hurt, it's all closed in now. In fact, a good shower right now would be just what the doctor ordered. As you drive along, for miles and miles there's a green tinge on the paddocks, the crops they have been sowing are coming up. A little bit of rain and whoosh! away t...

Re: Life in Bealiba.

Weather man says we could get heavy rain today. Around here could means anything from nothing, to a 2 minute downpour, to water over the road. So we shot out to St Arnaud this morning. I fitted the door on the loft, and started putting the weather boards back on. The biggest fiddle was finding the b...

Re: Yb teams

The size of the YB team is a huge factor. The smaller your team the quicker they will fly. My YB team was around 25 bred from 2 rounds. Weaned into TWO sections. They were loft flown separate, and trained separate. Rarely dropped a pigeon when training in the last 4 years I raced. True that. I only...

I sometimes find that with my phone for some reason.
I'll take the camera and get some good shots one day.
It's an hour's drive each way so we tend not to go there all the time.
