Re: Training yet
I still can't get mine out so training is definitely off the cards. I did try them again Saturday evening, more than half the birds still wouldn't come out, the ones that did were very nervous and spent very little time away from the loft. I only left them open for about half an hour, I didn't see t...

Re: Bird Flu
I was always of the understanding that pigeons can not catch it in the traditional sense. However when exposed to the virus, they can transport it to other locations. For example say a garden bird has the virus, pecking about in your garden/shed roof, your race birds pick it up through contact with...

Re: Devo's visit to Australia
Sorry I've not been on to keep up with this thread, but it is great to see you both getting on so well and that you are both having a great time. I'm sure it will do your health the power of good Devo.
Enjoy the rest of the trip both of you.

Re: Guest's
I have to say that I quite often look in without signing on these days, partly as I don't have the time, so just look in to see what's new, and partly because I can't be bothered to get involved with some of the debates.

Re: Life in St Arnaud
Back in the 80s I had my wrist broken during the morning milking by being kicked by a cow. I finished milking and after breakfast the secretary of the farm told me to go to A&E. I had it put in plaster and was back milking in the afternoon with a surgical glove over the plaster. It was in a bit...

Re: Devo's visit to Australia
Devo caught the train from Melbourne to Bendigo and I met him at noon today. We had a brief guided tour of Bendigo then headed home. Sometimes you just strike someone who you instantly click with. George is someone I have instantly formed a friendship with. On the hour and a half trip back we talke...

Re: Will you be ready
To be honest Neil, I very rarely find any bodies when I've had a hit, just have birds come in injured or not turn up at all. She has hit birds in the garden, on the loft, or on the house, she has even been in the loft before. But most the time she has them when they are flying low above the fields ...

Re: Life in St Arnaud
I tell you what this getting old sucks :x It is rainy and mild today, and my knees are like they are seized up. Don't like the damp. Jockey's knees. :D  It certainly does mate, I'm only 59 and my body is knackered, aches and pains everywhere, can't even drive for more than about 20minutes with...
