Re: Life in St Arnaud

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

I resurrected an old thread of mine, to quickly report on how the birds are going this season down here in Oz.

It was the first race of the year in Horsham and Bendigo.

In Horsham, three flyers had pigeons from our loft in. For two of them it was the first time they've had our pigeons. They are both out west of the town and constantly off the pace. So I was very pleased that when the results came up, both of them had clocked our pigeons first, and one of them was pretty close to the top. That should create a good first impression. :D
The same bloke sent 75, so hopefully that will sink in.
My mate Terry has a lot of ours. I was a bit surprised that he was only third in the race, until he told he he got 4 on the drop, including two of ours, but they disappeared and he found them up drinking out of the guttering! We should have won that one
They are racing again, Sunday, he sent 40 yesterday, he'll send about the same today. And he's going to cover the guttering.

In Bendigo David sent 10 of ours, he had the first 4 all in three seconds, and all ours were right there too. So that's a good start.

Well done Murray, I see there are two McPhees in the Horsham club.

The Horsham club raced again yesterday, Sunday, the second race of the weekend.
There were 17 members and 814 pigeons, going about 110 miles.
My good mate Terry was second in the race with yet another one of mine, another grand daughter of the Billiondollarbaby. The Billion Baby has become the mother of the loft.

In Bendigo, looking at David Cox's result from Saturday he had 5 hit the board together to win, one is a latebred cock by the young Pitbull out of a yearling sister of the one above in Horsham. So that's pleasing. The new additions seem to work.

Yes, different spelling.
Horsham is a long way from anywhere, but it's a nice town and has a very competitive pigeon club. It's possibly the most competitive club in Australia outside of the Capital cities.
There are some blokes with massive lofts and they are not scared to travel and pay big money for pigeons. If you can beat them you are doing well.

Yes, Dalton had about 20 from us, including a lovely pair off the same parents as 153 that was second on Sunday for Terry.
Dalton has been trying for several seasons without much luck, hopefully some of these will do the job for him. He's a good young bloke.
He's a builder and when I had the new loft completed he came over and erected it and put the roof on.
