Sounds like there’s been some bad races yesterday with terrible returns in some parts. It’s wet and windy here this morning which actually might help those birds missing in as much as there could be a little water around for them.
It does make me smile though when people moan about the races. We send the birds, we know the obstacles in front of them, no point in worrying about those that don’t return we just have to work with what we have at home.
Some say they won’t send to the first couple of young bird races. But then they are relying on slightly more experienced birds to bring theirs home. Their birds are still green in as much as it’s their first time on a lorry, mixed with other birds and liberated in big numbers. No amount of training can prepare them for that. There are bad reports of big losses from people who have done loads of training. So to me missing the first couple of races hoping for better races is pointless.

@andy first yb race and worst wind for weeks the irony but I'm with you we push them to 50 before first race we start at 10 miles and what's left by first race can actually get the job done I think training nowadays for lots of fanciers is not good enough and that's why we see the losses we do. Especially yb racing this is my passion as I'm a breeder tester in my day job and I've run yb teams for 10 years now with big numbers we have a 36 percent loss rate but great results and few losses through the yb season, I do appreciate that work commitments and modern life affects people's ability to do what needs doing and if I wasn't paid I would not be this dedicated to my own team, but if you want to win with yb, s it's a full time job nowadays

The more you put into any sport, the more you will reap the rewards. If your in the sport, of racing pigeons. You have to make time, If you want to race at top level. You have to better yourself and your birds, the top lofts have their birds in quality condition. For 365 days of the year, there is no time off when you are racing birds. Loft tasks need to be carried out, every day of the year. Routine routine foutine.. So this is the time to ask yourself, am i in the right sport.

Good shout Devo as the birds can't do all the cleaning and feeding that's all down to the fancier
By the sounds of things on here from what I have picked up from different people, if your loft management is on top form then your birds will be much happier in the loft that way it will make life easier for everyone

I've heard the same about the racing yesterday.

I saw on Facebook that some with trackers on turned back south after about 20miles before turning north again after 10mile or so!

As it stands currently I'm missing all of mine, after they been coming well for the last few weeks!

Once they in the race baskets it's a completely different game!
