Today marks the start of a long journey.

Me and my father decided today that after seeing the basketing yesterday for barcelona. That we are also going to participate as soon as possible.
Obviously this process will take a few years since you race 2-3 year old birds there. but we are starting to look for 1-2 breeding couples now that we think could do the job.
Next years the first youngsters should be breed and hopefully in 3 years we can join in on it for the first time :D :D :D

About time, you spoke to me about this when i was at your lofts, you was talking about a small loft for distance birds. I only wish i could do this myself, i was looking on Herbots site. There were some nice distance birds on there. This is a distance family i would be looking for myself. Great news, good luck to you and your Dad. Great venture unfolding. Well done Leon.

I will be looking for something more national due to the huge distance gap. Not trying to knock on anyones or any birds achievment but they do have to travel 1215km to my loft whilst most dutch or belgium lofts probaly have 300-400km less. Im currently looking at kipp und söhne they are a very famous marathon loft in germany.

For some of the members, who may not know Kipp and Son, here is a write up about these heavy long distance flyers.

Not knocking them at all Leon but I did a bit of reseach on them some time ago. If you look at their loft position they are right down the bottom of Germany.
In relation to National flying in Germany you might call it distance flying but in relation to the international Barcelona, I considered it to be middle distance. If I recall it is less than 500 miles to their loft from Barcelona. With a good West wind I deemed it to be more of a blow-home than "heavy" distance racing.
However, they do what they do very well so good luck to them and good luck to you and your dad in your quest Leon, any new challenge is always exciting.

Well looking at the distance, you would be racing 754.966 miles, now pending on the wind Leon. It could be a testing race for your loft, Is there any other flyers near to your home that races these distances,?

you are indeed correct that they are in the bottom of germany and i should have done a bit more research aswell before hand. There is another german fancier i got in mind named oswald schneider who has about the same distance as i do 1200~ km.
