Cider vinegar and babies.

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

After foll9wing you guys advice I have got into a routine of putting cider vin in the water once a week and also Anthony's bleach tip every couple of weeks.
My babies are just starting hatching out so should I still do it or wait until the babies are a bit bigger....

Dave I've used Vircon, ACV & Iodine with ybs in the nest from an early age, not seemed to have done them any harm.
Mostly the ACV but probably a day using the other 2 during the week so wouldn't worry about using them jmo.

Nobody should be putting bleach into water when the birds are feeding YBs. The parent birds pass on all the immunity the young need while in the nest.

I tend to lower it more than once a week normally as I fill my can I put 60ml apple cider vinegar to 10 liters that brings my ph down to 5
I do like the quill boost although I remember Anthony mentioned about it burning the throat so I tend to use that twice a week at 7ml to 10 liters
For years I used Avidress again I like that
I haven’t used the other oh control supplements
I find a cheap ph pen handy to get the dose right
Not sure when Anthony uses the bleach after the first 10 days but for my ybs I don’t bother to the weather turns hot then I tend to use it just Sundays originally to keep the crop clean again I have no evidence it works but I was told to do it by a very good fancier some years back
I use a ph paper strip to check the ph when using a product as nearly everything you add to water will lower it. But I've never ever intentionally lowered the ph to a set number? Anybody who uses products several times a week will have a different ph level each day. Trying to keep it level at a set number every day is almost impossible.

Great point King, thanks mate, I wasn't thinking of doing it for the babies benefit more for the parents from where they have been picking about the garden but now you have hilighted that, I guess the bleach has the potential to damage that immunity, so will pass on that option til the babies are away.

If you don’t intentionally lower the PH why do you test it King
Curiosity Neil. Like I said almost everything added to the water will lower it. I like to know by how much. I also have a combined thermometer/hygrometer in the loft too, so I know the temp & humidity every time I go in the loft.
