What’s people’s thoughts on vent bones for cocks and hens
Racing or for breeding
I like them tight on the hens can’t say I worry about cocks
I’m not sure why, I still wouldn’t want them so your little finger can get in but I don’t worry if there not so tight as breeding hens

What do you look for ?
Should I take my notice of it in cocks

I recently watched a Mark Gilbert video where he said that tight vents and other handling cues used to be the main thing he went for. Then as he got more and more experience he realised they really didn’t matter, as the most perfect handling birds can often be complete duffers in the race basket and the exact opposite in the hand can be outstanding.

I like them tight but handle more winners with a slight gap than I have winners that are tight and closed so I don't know now if a slight gap is the key over clamped tight vents ??.

I was handling a few of my ok ones and they seemed to allow like the very top of the little finger in not like to the top of the nail just the very outer of the finger
