Best to read colin walker article he says fat eye as no herpes connected to it but mycoplasma is always present.

Good luck with it Neil - It don't seem right you getting this when you take such good care of yer birds.
I can't believe the level of observation that you need to even recognise something as small as this.
When you first posted this, I thought well, it could be that they are just preparing to roost.
This and some of the other recent threads have made me realise I am so far away from being an accomplished flier and I am going to have to up my game to do any sort of justice to my birds.

I explained my issues before to a nice lady and she said she would get a vet to call me
Anyway she got a vet to call me from about 200 miles near Leominster
After a chat I said could I have a bacteria/ culture test incase it’s mycroplasma or similar he said I advise you not to bother as by post there hit and miss results it’s much better to take the pigeon to a vet on the day as you can’t tell much from swobs / samples sent in the post
Unfortunately he wasn’t aware of one in the area I live
He was a nice man as he could have seen sold me something but it makes me think what he said and is all this testing hit and miss
Neil when you send back any sample in the tube provided I thought the actual cotton bud part was always in a gel, so I don't understand why he would say they are hit & miss, if that's the case then all samples sent are a waste of time if you get any inconclusive test results.

Neil, do these birds have it all on the same eye. If so deweert said it’s sometimes a draft that causes the problem. But if it’s on different eyes when looking at them as you say it’s some other problem. Helping Hands for Pets - eye drops for bacterial eye infections helps ( organic castor oil & N-Acetylcarnosine works.

Yes they do
I’m not saying he is right Dave just what he told me today he said he would prefer to hold the bird and swob it due to time frame and then said try to find a avian vet locally it would be a more successful test
Here a cut and paste of what the lab says that I use about swabs.

We prefer to receive a fresh crop swab. This gives a clearer picture of the infection pressure and consequently a more accurate result. You can have a crop swab taken during a consultation at veterinary practice NeorniVet. If a fresh crop swab is not possible, you can provide us with a dried crop swab in a tube. In this case, the result may be less accurate.

Maybe the vet you spoke to Neil was just being more honest than others.
