Breeding preparation

I would say that you would of covered everything & be as clean as possible before breeding with all stock for this coming breeding .
My thinking is if they've got anything it will be passed on in the egg laying stage e.g Salmonella etc ( Salgen vaccine easy to administer )I think you don't want to be propping up youngsters if they don't develop properly or take the gamble either.
So yes for a good start I'd be on top of anything jmo.

I’m looking to pair mid Feb

Just put them on barley apart from a few handfuls of seed
I have test results back no canker possibly due to the iodine I use
Would members leave it or treat blind now or when on eggs if at all
I’m going to do the bleach for a week in January but haven’t planned to do any other blind treatments

What’s others systems for the 5/6 weeks leading up to pairing

Mine are on 2 parts Multitask., 1 part beans, 1 part barley. Don't ever test them. I too use Iodine, but will treat for canker before pairing (only time I treat for it) Will pair end of Feb. Then it's a case of just putting bowls in.

Racers have had 5 days dr colin walker doxy t mixed with original emtryl for canker .
Every done here no stone unturned for coming season.

I still can’t decide whether to worm or not given the tests all came back negative? I did a second check with a vet from PHS and she said the same thing- don’t treat for anything they haven’t got..

Totally agree with Mike.
Iv never seen a worm in my pigeons but I want my birds to receive every bit of nutrition I get in them I don't want worms getting anything.

You're in a healthy position really Pete because you can say with some confidence that there's no need to worm right now

In your position (me personally) I'd worm - just for my own peace of mind as much as anything I guess

Now come racing that's another matter

This "don't treat if they haven't got it" approach doesn't hold much water with me I'm afraid

You are clearly very driven more so than most clearly, but what good does giving birds medication for conditions they don’t have do?

I’m just following what you said previously that you disagreed with people who “didn’t treat when they hadn’t got it” which makes me think that you agreed that “they hadn’t got it” many test to find out if their birds have any issues and treat accordingly, you obviously flock treated wether it was needed or not
