Best of luck with your program ,,so let say you fly the long ones at 3 or 4 year olds ,how old will be the parents & grandparents ,& where will they be ?if wanting to recreate the same ,the other problem I see ,how many of the birds you carrier for the 3 or 4 years turn out ok ,I know this is the way over there at this stage , look back to the 50s up to,the 70s lots of YBs did the job ,so you got a result straight up ,only my thoughts ,breed from the strongest,

I would just like to say ,there are many J B s not capable of flying the long ones ,& it wouldn’t matter if you kepted then to 10 year olds ,same result ,it’s working with the right birds ,time doesn’t turn them into champions ,I believe to many short races will wreaking the blood ,it’s only the very best ,that should be bred from ,

Some good and interesting points there, very thought provoking, I know over here people do tend to do slow and steady for the longer races and as Andy says let them mature over the years only thing I do think they need is training as babies although this is difficult for Andy as having no club races which is where they would learn the trade at shorter distances

A very hard race indeed ,when in Roman ,I can see why ,but it’s nothing wrong in being different now if you all flew fantails same thing ,you have to get a result , the other problem if your race birds are older & do the job no reason to think they will bred on & the parents & grandparents are long gone & did projuice ,,what a waste ,

The good theing is, Andy has pigeons getting home. The Muzzaboy arrived a day or two late recently. I think the pigeons must be in good health since they keep coming instead of just giving up.
Andy is in not the best location, as he has no local club racing. He is doing it alone. I commend him.

ok lets be honest who sent Andy birds that could fly Barcelona not me i'm talking in race time , i also fail to see from your results this year how any of your birds are fit to fly 400mls on the day but correct me if l'm wrong i think the birds need to be kept going not one race then stopped for the season unless it has put up a good performance and i don't see that either what i hope is that you don;t lose too many ybs of course you are building a team i just can't see it in the birds you have you must be ready to send to Barcelona next year no matter what i've said i do hope you have a good yb season and you prove me wrong i will be happy , the other thing i did not read a post were you had sent my yearling hen to a national only when i ask about her did you tell me she was lost in a national

In theory they should but who knows none of us are perfect and mistakes will be made both good and bad, Andy does his best under some difficult circumstances and I fully support him

I have lost 17 old birds over 5 national races this year. I lost 16 last year in one 18 mile training toss. So what’s better, training or giving them a race?

And that is a lot less than many others although a great shame for the losses

Horses for coarses, like begin like ,,the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree , etc etc ,it took generations in the early make up of pigeons to fly ,passed 400 miles & from them started to get 500 600 & 700 milers ,
