WRONG ADVICE

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

I am sitting here now totally gutted thinking that the advice I have received from you guys maybe wasnt the best.
I am not blaming anyone directly and know that at the end of the day anything I do is my own decision and I am always the first to say that "shit happens" - get over it and move on.
I posted on here asking about the best nest position for cocks at the distance.
The direction that the thread took generally encouraged me to get the hens going.
Well, I gave them 2 chucks at 18 miles and all were home before me. This morning, they went to 25 miles and up to now I have only had 3/7 home.
2 of the 4 missing are the partners to my Pau candidates.
I know it is early yet but it just strikes me if they are lost
thats my plan for the season finished.
All of them have raced before 2 yearlings and 2 x 2yo.
I do expect that they will get back but who knows with this weather the way it is.

I think they will be back Dave, I am not sure what the weather is like there. They will work in I am sure about that. Let us know Dave.

They have probably just got in with other trainers or birds exercising from other lofts. It could be that they were hit by a BOP but hopefully not. I’m sure they will be back. Certainly if they have been raced before. I would stop trying with the ones from your potential Pau cocks.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

I understand you are severely annoyed and looking for someone to blame.
I recall suggesting we get back to the original question, which was, What might be the best nest condition for cocks for Pau?
However if by by anything I said you feel I have contributed to today's mishap, please do feel free to blame me. I am well accustomed to it and will do me no lasting harm.
Greetings from the land down under. :D

To be honest some of the 'advice' given out on this site over the last week has been absolute rubbish. I suppose its commendable people are willing to give it. But the best two people for advise no longer seem to be posting, namely MIL and NeilA. Not sure why they aren't posting whether there's been a fall out I've missed? But if you want advice on how to race pigeons they'd be the two I'd be going to. I know neither of them personally and their both into a different type of racing than me but anyone with a half a brain can see they know how to race pigeons.

Not blaming anyone, but just pissed off.
I take all the advice on board and sift through the good and bad and at the end of the day I make my own decisions.
I am just saying that given this mornings events, the guidance maybe wasnt the best.
I have 2 more back but still missing 2 and one is a hen for one of the Pau cocks.

I race both sexes, so as when the distance comes, you have a choice of birds to send. And if you notice in one of my posts, when I remate them, I try to mate them to birds that are finished for the season IE Yearlings and birds that have been injured or made a severe mistake, this is purely so that the mates are always there for the birds that are being prepared for the distance.

Dave EVERY time you put birds in a basket there is a chance you will lose them. I recall taking mine one day, birds that had flown many races, half returned having been in wires. 4 never returned including a dark cock that had flown Bordeaux 3 times 629 miles & 500 twice. He was due to go to Palamos that year 855 miles.
Nobody give you the wrong advice. They give you something to consider. You decided what to do. I hope the others return for you.

With all due respect mate i think the title is a very bold statement.
I would like to hear how you think that the advise of the nest positon had any effect on a 25 mile toss. given the circumstances that just before that they came home twice on 18 miles just fine.
The title doesnt sit well with me and seems very antagonizing because atleast personally i think you could have taken any advise from there and it still shouldnt make a difference on a 25 mile toss.
Im gladly to be teached different why you or someone thinks that the nest positon couldve caused this on such a short toss but As i said before given the fact that before that on 7 miles less they came just fine i suspect other issues that happened on today toss and not any advise that someone gave here.
