Last 3 seasons I’ve been playing with a few celibate hens, and been please with them, they won from 70- 500 miles. I used to fly the yearling cock celibate and although they raced ok I used to struggle with them as the races got longer so went back to natural with them.

I have a friend who flies yearling hens that way the real outstanding ones stay so he may pick 2/3 out for the next year his view is it works best with yearling hens the rest are used for his widowhood cocks with fresh yearling hens becoming the celibacy team

How did the loses with the yearling cocks go Steve or was there no difference to normal

On the short races there’s no difference, however the yearling cocks didn’t do so well at the distance and I definitely lost more.

Steve can I ask were the yearling cock true celibacy or did you allow any bonding post race

No I used to race them to a section on there own to a perch. In hindsight I think they exercised to hard and I fed them on too lighter corn for them to be effective at the longer races.

Anyone got any information on flying the cocks this way maybe videos on you tube not the McLaughlin ones
I think in Australia and New Zealand they use the system a fair bit

I had a very good friend who died last year that was a loft manager/ helper for fanciers very well know in London he was telling me I’m wasting my time with all the total widowhood of parting pigeons off etc even when I was was in the top 10 of the fed each week he said they can go up a level not stressing them
He said just pair them in January let them sit out or have ybs as it made no difference
Then take the hens away
They never get to see each other for rest of the season , no show cage trick or basket no bowls nothing
I thought how will the cocks sprint for a season like that but he felt there fitness was far improved and no stress for the cocks I know they won 7 feds one year in old birds on it

Back in the old pigeon chat days there was a guy from Essex Terry I think his name was used to rave about how good the system was , shame the old pages aren’t available.

All I know is no matter what system you race when I'm motivated the birds seem to do there best.

Terry never flew celibacy he flew them parted with loads of motivation each Friday, but the highest prize winner in he's club was Stuart ager who flew natural n trained 30 miles each day ,,
the man who flew true celibacy was a Welsh man who passed away use to be on pigeon chats forgotten he's full name but part of it was Owen.
