The young birds were off their heads this morning, so they had a toss this afternoon, a nice little fly into a head wind.
They must have been going pretty much full throttle, because they didn't arrive in a bunch, there were four or five, then 20 seconds later another couple and a few seconds later another couple.....
All were counted, except the little dark hen. I figured she'd be back, she has been several minutes behind a few times. She's tiny and I don't think she's much good. Sure enough a little bit latter she came storming in.
I might pull her out and keep her for a mate for the young grizzle cock. She won't make a racer, she's just a 'come home' pigeon.
Well done Muzza, I'm sure the little dark one won't mind a life of leisure lol

The ever diminishing young bird team,

, The red hen is out for stock, the little dark hen is no good.., went for a toss this afternoon.
I was driving along listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, then Paradise by the dashboard light, so of course I ended up going a bit further.
I hurried home, at no time exceeding the speed limits,

and was home before them.
They went bang on the board and in.
I said to Catherine this morning, in the space of a week these have turned into racing pigeons.

Good to hear all going well over there Murray, I have been watching Aussie Gold. One of the teams went to Benidingo for their permit,
A great series. Lets hope you have struck Gold with some of these youngsters mate.

We will not know until they race, but we have some really great types in the shed.

Three days ago I took the very young team, George the grizzle and four other young ones for their first toss. From the football field, about a mile.
One flew straight into a tree and sat there. I was constantly looking for it, today I was not hopeful.
This afternoon it was sitting on the shed over the back fence, looking pretty ordinary. I picked up the old Diver and took him out and let him go to bring it in. They flew around for a while then I got it in. It was pretty buggered.
But crikey they are tough

I put it on a perch with a pot of light feed. A few minutes later I had to take it away, it was going to eat until it was sick. It had a sleep for a couple of hours and then was in with the other young birds eating and arguing,
