You can still get Amprolum in fact Harkers coxoid is Amprolum. Years go they used to add it to growers pellets. Must have been 40 odd years ago now, one season I feed 50% of these pellets and had my first good years racing winning a few 1sts. Thing I’ve found with coccidiosis you can’t eradicate it, it’s not like worms. Even after using Baycox there’s still been a low count, the count can even change during the day. Traditional disinfectants won’t kill the oocysts so re infection is a certainty. I’ve often thought of using Aprollum at half dose daily for the racing season to see what would happen. Presently I’ll only treat if there’s a sustained increase over several day, (don’t waste your money on the one treatment tablets they have little effect).keeping the loft dry is a big factor.

Hi Steve and all members...this is my ist posting on site although i look in every day...re amprolium my ist time using this product was back in 1980 if memory serves me right after a visit to a vets just outside of blackpool ...he took a smear of one of the eyes of my bird by placing the glass slide direct on the eye result cocci and prescribed amprolium for thirty days....yes thirty days it was the consistency of fairy liquid one cap full to a drinker and did a good job although long winded...so always after that thought the few days treatment was maybe just a regulator ....dont remember it being added to corn but you may be mixing it up with emtryl that was in pellets for chickens ....alan

Thanks for the replying it was definitely Amprolium added to the pellets. Did they used to add emtril to turkey pellets for black spot?
