Murray, how do you prepare the veg for the birds I have always given it to other birds I have kept over the years and they all love it, I will try with my birds mate

It's quite simple, Tony.
I do grow a lot of vegetables in my garden. They are all natural and organic. Not because I'm some kind of hippy but because the number of bees is declining and without bees we all stop eating. So I have tried to stop being a lazy bugger and stop using pesticides and herbicides as much.

All I do is take whatever vegetables are on hand and put them in the blender. Whizz them up for a few seconds and put them in bowls for them.

Now we all know that your zucchinni and your perpetual spinach are not going to turn your pigeons into champions. But it can be another 1%.And all the 1%'s add up. ;)

Since I followed Murrays advice Tony Ive just been chopping them by hand into pieces about the size of a pea. I do sprinkle just a little salt on mine when they are slightly damp. (probably much to Murrays dismay)!!
Have to agree with him, the birds absolutely love it and there is a lot of vitamins n minerals in them and they must get some of thst goodness out of it.

No, I usually put a little sprinkle of salt on them too. It's only the issue I had with the grit made me a bit cautious for a minute.

I was just looking at the picture on the SALT thread, and remembered that the grizzle, Ronnie, has sired his first winner. :D
A daughter won from 300 miles the other day, she's 8 months old.
He's by the Grizzle Thone out of the Billiondollarbaby, and was a very good youngster last year.

He's 22 months old now.
He would have been a bit over a year old when he fathered the one that won last week.

The place has gone mad.
I sent another 14 Youngsters to Horsham on Sunday. They'd been on hold for a few days, learning to socialise on the floor, having parties in the nest boxes :D
I already had a couple of hens on two eggs and another one on the first, but this afternoon five have laid and another five are looking very much like they are going to lay.
The cocks have been going mental herding the hens and the afternoon fly took about two minutes.

I love what I'm doing. I really do. :D
