@king I have to disagree pigeon racing is as much a business as it is a sport today and pedigrees as long as from the 2 big companies that require third party vet samples and ring checks are incredibly accurate all it would do is make the information scan from the bird also clock from the same ring it's like a digital passport attached to the leg for life

Well at present under RPRA rules. Geshifeng chip rings are not approved for use in racing here in the UK. So it maybe a while before they are seen here. Chip life-rings have been used before, the all plastic one was used in Belgium a few years ago but he FCI withdrew it due to it having no metal core. Also there was the life-ring with the lugs on that the RPRA tried to force on members back in 2010 for use with ETS stick chips. They only lasted a year due to members not liking them.
There's also the cost of a combined life ring/ETS will be more expensive. And the disadvantage of those is you can't re-use them like the current ETS rings.

Danny, when money is involved there is always a risk of cheating.
If you think back to the Kelly saga with ets going back sometime ago that was allegedly fool proof which it wasn't.
With new technology you hope that it got built in security but then ets was meant to be .

Absolutely nothing full proof but has to be a step forward

@king pros and cons to everything absolutely but I do feel it's a major improvement on the current situation with paper records on dna and peds and having one ring that also acts as ets better more convenient but yes could end up slightly more expensive then now, but it would be great if it becomes available widely imo

I've always believed if you can't trust a paper pedigree from a buyer then you shouldn't be buying. DNA means nothing to the average fancier, how can they check if it's correct? You'd need access to the parent birds to do your own test. A pedigree on paper or digitally stored on pc or a ring, STILL has to be written by the seller?

Rdhd Danny wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 9:05 am China fancier showed me a test faze life ring this morning with built in rfid chip and I think it's the future! also digital pedigree system will run along side it definitely would make life easier company was geshifeng fci approved manufacturers so fingers crossed we see it in the market soon
How does it make life easier? Doe's it prove the pedigree is actually correct? I hope the FCI doesn't approve this rubbish. Pigeon racing is about racing the birds not selling them?
I agree King.
The sport is becoming very commercialised and more for the professional people with loads of time and money.
Do you think the chip would work for ETS and if so I don’t know how that could work with all the different systems.

@king majority of pigeons over 5k come with third party dna test of both parents to confirm 100 percent it's not something that can be falsified chain of custody is vet controlled sample taking only, but absolutely just a paper pedigree isn't enough and it's why we all want better systems in place to keep track "pigen" testing records are good but not enough gendika is fantastic but they don't have open records access but it's getting better, I know many who just enjoy the sport don't like the business side of things but it employs a lot of people and is also important and I don't think it affects the average fanciers enjoyment it's two different lanes

As I said earlier, it requires Trust
Who thinks that this would be progress????
I’m glad I was only ever a hobby fancier as were 99% when I started.
Why must ideas like this be mooted and promoted as a good idea ?? another case of money spoiling what’s left of the game imo
