I had a stud loft Dave, so i was breeding for other flyers around the country. Also in Ireland, I was still getting calls for youngsters 2 years after I had to finish in the sport.

Did you get to produce/race any of those beauties youself Dev. Was your own racing career successful...

Dave to be honest, i was more into breeding. So this is when i started doing OLR. I did have a partner that was going to be the racing loft, but a few problems stopped that. So I was then diagnosed with ILD so birds had to go.
Breeding was gold to me racing was silver. If i had the chance again in life, it would still be the same to breed the best, in Racing horses, Greyhounds, or Racing pigeons.
Also Dave, caring for other members of the family. It was much easier to be involved with the breeding side.

If Im honest Dev, I think I get more out of the breeding than thr racing. Never thought about it before as I've always looked at the both going hand in hand and you can't have one without the other.
But being a distance enthusiast, every race I select has always been to prove my breeding selection rather than the individual bird but then I suppose everyone does that anyway.

Must have been really hard to give the birds up Devo and it looks like you had some quality birds there, real shame but your health and family always come first mate.
With your knowledge of the pigeon sport and breeding its great for everyone that your on here hopefully for support and the memories of pigeons and the racing / breeding of the birds.

I still get emjoyment out of the racing Tony, I do enjoy the feedbck from other members. How they are preparing for a race, how they have fed up their birds to race day. And the use of the internet keeps me intouch with others around the world. From day one, it as always been about the art of breeding.
