If he’s had a problem with paratyphoid then I’d say treat and vaccinate, if not I’d leave alone. Having had paratyphoid in the late 80’s I can tell you it has a devastating effect on the loft, and clearing the flock of it isn’t easy treating and vaccinating is no guarantee. I’d get them tested and go from there.

Iv never had it and for £100 of treatment it puts my mind at peace lads.

He's never had an issue with it. He's just a lad that tries to do his best for his birds and thinks that this is a base he's not covered before

It's my worse fear in pigeons.

What would you use to treat bind with I have only use the Belgica product parastop mostly
I did try a liquid one last year but I can’t remember the brand now

Never know if it’s any good though

Is it possible to have carriers and it never break out to a full blown issue in the loft or if you have carriers does it always come out in the team
I mean could say someone have 10 carriers but no visible problems so they would still be racing but maybe just behind each week

I'm not an authority on it, but sounds perfectly feasible to me

Some lads are behind most weeks without really wondering "why" ?

Yep it was Parastop that he prescribed to me and the name of the vet was Henk De Weerdt. Had to give it for a prolonged treatment think it might of been 21 days.
Not had a "black egg" since so presume it cleared it up.

From my experience with it I think it unlikely you’d have carries but go the year round with no symptoms. It’s such an insidious disease, even in an outbreak the majority of birds seem ok it just works its way through them slowly. When I had it in the Autumn of ( 88 I think) they recovered and looked fine. The following breeding season not 1 single youngster from the 8 pairs survived.
