When doing birds this morning found an old hen sitting a baby :D :D :D , first in a few years and so pleased as want to keep the line going hopefully other egg will hatch as well, also found a youngster that I rung just before we went away missing from nest box but found it other end of loft under boxes and only slightly scalped :D :D

I find on the whole if I get a youngster on the floor other birds will try to feed it. I have an old hen who insists on going into the young bird loft where I have weaned the youngsters and feeds anything that asks for it.
Tell me about it I don't know why either, I have some cocks and hens that will feed other babies even going in boxes to do it as well and the parents just let them, the ones on the floor they get fed by 3 or 4 birds that I have actually seen so suppose that could be why that one was out
