Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

My birds have been going through it but are now starting to look ok again

Is there anything I should be giving the birds extra in the water or on the corn ect.....
Hi Tony

I always use Sedachol for the moult I also use it on my dog all year, it puts good condition into the feathers and coat, it's in my opinion one of the only products I see a difference in

I've heard that from other flyers. Sedochol is one of the very few products that actually works.
One of the best, Ad Schaerlaeckens, likes it, and he is very sceptical of things that come out of bottles.
I have seen it advertised here in Australia for AU$ 60.00, about GBP 30.00 for a litre.
My stock pigeons are gleaming in the sun now, I think I'll give it a miss. But for race birds, it might be worth the investment.

I used it 3 times a week, generally on the corner think it's 15ml to a kg...I usually dry it off with a bit of cinnamon and cayenne pepper.

Those that sell pigeons and need them completely through the moult for Doncaster and the likes will use Sedachol everyday for 90 days.

As Andy has said you don't need NOTHING to HELP them. Nature does it all. If a bird struggles though the moult move it on. It YOU help it you could be helping a weakling that will let you down later. The less you interfere the more likely you will spot those birds which are going to fail.

Give that man a cigar.
The moult is the most natural thing. The only time you need to pay it any attention is if they aren't going through it properly, and that might mean you have let them down, and let them develop health problems through poor housing or poor management.

Just something you mentioned King got me thinking can you use the moult as indication for any sort of form thro out the season....
Yes Dave birds in top form will have small round droppings and down feathers on them. Although they can be also in form without dropping down feathers, but the down feathers is a good indication of form.
Thanks King. Just need to ask if you would expect this fall of down and body feathers all year round to indicate that the birds are in good health...

Once through the moult it should only be down feathers that are constantly shed, only in small amounts of just the odd feathers. Yes it is a sign of healthy birds Dave.
