Danny i know where you are coming from, at the end of the day. We all have our own budgets, for different things in life. Homes, cars, holidays, and different sports. Racing pigeons are not cheap anymore, if you want to be up with the best. So members like Leon and yourself, set standards that other people dont wish to venture in. All i can say is well done, for having those standards.

As I keep saying a lot of ya top fliers year on year keep themselves to themselves and win. They don't buy fancy pedigrees they don't have flash websites but they don't need to because they can fly a hell of a pigeon. I'll give ya one right off the top of my head R&B Smith of Warrington been winning at the very top for a lifetime and still are today. Just good old fashioned pigeon fanciers with RACING pigeons. And again that's not a pop at anyone on the site I know how touchy you boys get. I bang on but I don't want new starters looking on this site and thinking you need studs big set ups and fancy pedigrees to win pigeon races because you don't, never have had to, and never will have to.

Goose 1, what i am pointing out. Leon and Danny have both set their stands on hard work. And that can not be taken away from them, no matter how much is spent in the lofts. Its knowing out to get the best out of the birds. No one is saying the likes of other flyers dont set their standards. We know they do, but some go that little bit further. Also i am making comment on some of the members on this site, that put their results up and give feedback about running their lofts. Training, feeding, racing.

Your post makes no sense? These fellas you mention will work NO harder than the vast majority of fanciers both successful and unsuccessful and that is a fact. They won't go ANY further than many other fanciers again successful and unsuccessful so don't blow smoke up folks arse because I can't be on with it. Brought 20 latebreds from them must be 16 or 17 years ago paid fifty quid each and they won from the off.

There may be lads who work equally as hard I know there is, but nobody harder. And I don't receive a wage for my efforts. I go to work 7 double day shifts there not many days im in bed after 4am so where do you rank that?

Well Goose1, I would have to take that as face value. But go on i will put you up in that rank, I have been on a visit to the Spieker loft. So i know how hard Leon and his Dad works. They had a great season this year, and i chat with Leon daily. His words it could have been better, they are already working on preparing better. Danny also fits into this rank on work rate, long hours carrrying out all tasks at a racing stud loft. Also taking care of his family, so there you go. I feel you all do so well in the sport. It was rather late for me to reply last night, as i had a few hours at the hospital going through lung tests. But it was a good to chat.

There are two types of fanciers the hobbyist who are in it purely for the enjoyment and the Semi professional who are in it for the money (those that run one loft races fall into this category)
As long as the latter don’t pretend to be the former then everybody knows where they stand

@bowbroom so your opinion is there are either people in it for the fun of it! or the money! so if a person wants to compete but doesn't have the time, but has the ability to still compete by employing staff and there sole goal is winning not profit what are they? Or the fancier who spends thousands on his hobby to compete at the highest level is he now semi professional simply for having a big disposable income for his hobby? or is he now in it for the money because he sells a few each year to recoup some money back from his hobby , I don't think life is as black and white as you make it sound, would you say mark Gilbert is in pigeons for the money or the hobby? Mark sells lots of birds but it's not his living or how he became rich it's not his focus
