Found 6 Dandy Nests today in my shed, they've been there at least 30 years as I bought them from my old loft. I'll use them up on the first round next year. Anybody else still use them?

What would you say was the best nest to use ?

I use a clay bowl with a nest felt held in place with a blob of glue and a hand full of shavings. Whatever type of bowl you use Tony, you need something placed in it to provide GRIP for the YBs so the legs don't get Splayed.

I use plastic bowls with a nest felt and straw. If they get a bit mucky I put a clean bowl in and wash out the nest felts and hang them on the line to dry.

That's Tonto. She's a Jos Thone' hen who is 14 years old. She doesn't lay very often any more, but she is happy to sit a pair of foster eggs and raises great youngsters. :D
