What can WE change.

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

I can hear what you are all saying, very similar things just in different ways.
Yes, things need to change for the better, but unless everyone at your club votes for change so that the rep from each club can then meet on theses changes and take it to the AGM at the RPRA then there will be no changes.
From what I have heard from a lot of different people far and wide is the same thigs, things need to change for the better of the sport but it falls on deaf ears with the RPRA, as these are stuck in their ways and wont change things, WHY who knows does it benefit the RPRA these changes, do they lose money in any way I don't know.
But each year a lot of people leave the sport because of the none change, losses in birds, and the half empty wagons going to LIBs when FEDs could join together to make things cheaper for everyone involved.
If I'm talking 5hite then please tell me but be polite about it hahaha

Yes I agree Danny. But that ain't going to happen is it. If it did happen it would change how the RPRA was run (administration), but it wouldn't change RACING in general. Clubs/Feds/Nationals would still retain the right to when and where they race from. They MUST race to a program that suits them.

Wouldn't members be able to vote on this at their clubs on whether it was to move the Lib points or the race dates :?

Yes Tony members at the AGM of clubs/Feds/Nationals propose both race programs and dates. I was pointing out we NEVER want the RPRA involved in this process.

Organisations going to the same race point with half empty wagon from the same area, should go together to share the cost, carry on like this is financial suicide.
Better to have tried to implement changes than carry on with your head in the sand jmo, but I expect it will be more of the same from people that they want control at all cost, & will never make changes to survive even if it's staring them in the face. Rant over.
I totally agree Dave. If the ring thing happened and we tried later racing that would go a long way to trying to bring about change to prevent the killing cycle but its not something that we can change as individuals and we both know that the RPRA dinosaurs won't instigate any initiatives.
As I said on an earlier post YOU yourself don't need to follow everybody else Dave. The RPRA issues rings early because if they didn't fanciers would buy them from other Unions. YOU yourself Dave like any other fancier can start racing as late as you want, your not forced into sending to the early races, late races or any race. If a Fed sees it's early races lack support they'll have to change. My local Fed has often changed race points, or dropped races because of lack of support. If you get no joy in proposing changes at your Fed meetings, change Feds.
Many forget, the RPRA does NOT set when racing starts or where a club races from. And that's how it should be. MEMBERS decide when and where they race from, and you should hope that's how it stays.
Hello King, I certainly don't follow everybody with regards to racing pigeons, far from it. I make the decision my pigeons my loft if I fall flat on my face then I'm going to change things but at least I'll give it a go, at least I've tried & not excepted that's how things are done .As for the RPRA well we've had many a conversation over time about what they should be doing, Dave knows my feeling about that I think we are of the same opinion, all I'll say is the membership needs better representation, but we a know that's not going to come about.
King I take onboard what you said but especially yb racing we need some positive action because the losses have been horrendous this year. What the RPRA stance on this absolutely nothing.

I share your feelings on the RPRA, But on some positive action because of horrendous losses this year with YBs, what do you want the RPRA to do? The losses are NOT down to anything they have done.

Marketing budget was something disgusting like £500 quid outrageous
Absolutely dead right Dan Any change to the RPRA has to come from within. Many ppl have tried making changes from the outside and have failed misetably (me being among them) So it's not going to happen.
What we need is a way of doing away with them or by passing them. They ain't good for much anymore anyway. Certainly don't serve the membership but that a whole new topic .

They are the governing body King , how about they try something new & look into why so many pigeons are failing to get back to there lofts. This should be a priority surely investigation on there part, this year alone I'll say 4 weekends when the losses were horrendous, not a peep out of the CEO or anyone else for that matter.
They might sit up when ring sales for 2027 drop off & another drop in membership.

@diamondave I've said for a couple of years now someone needs to create a new governing organisation with ring distribution copy and paste rule book and run with it, I'd also like to see club results gathered and a league table created by that organisation build the prizes etc but will somebody do it? I don't know

If the members don't know the reasons why birds are failing to return how will they know? Many are guessing the reasons why, maybe they can guess also? They can't wave a magic wand and make birds come back. Since the problem does not really effect old birds, it's NOT going to be easy to solve. A lack in homing ability seems top of the list. The answer maybe the WAY MANY RACE THEM. Many treat and try to race them like old birds and that's a mistake.

Racing YBs has over recent years got more difficult. Many send very large teams and expect to lose half. When I first began racing Education was the purpose of YB races. Today it's about Winning. Many think they can treat them and feed them like old birds.
When you send to you have to decide want your aim is. Racing or education. Winning or getting them back. The difference is how you prepare and feed them. You can't prepare a bird for a 1-2 hour fly and expect it still be flying many hours later. I myself when racing YBs wouldn't send a YB to even the first race if I didn't think it could still be flying 8 hours after liberation if it was needed to get home.
Many YBs are lost EVERY week simple because the run out of fuel before they can get home.
