Just desperate ppl trying to justify the appalling losses TonyTony-P- wrote: Wed Aug 12, 2026 5:29 pm do you think the losses has anything to do with the Solar Eclipse tonight
with birds going missing over the last few weeks this Solar Eclipse has been working its way closer every week and tonight is the night so would this have an effect on the birds over the last few week leading up to the Eclipse and maybe for the next few weeks after tonight.
I might be talking a load of crap am no expert in Pigeons or the Stars what are your thoughts on this

One thing i would say about racing overall, Its all about management of the lofts. It makes no difference OLR or club racing, you have to give 100% to your loft management. All tasks daily need to be carried out, no short measures from early morning to late at night. There is work to be done, to get the best out of your birds. Good preparation needed, to get into a better system. Planning ahead keeps the health of your birds paramount. There are so many tasks to carry out, and in different seasons more tasks are added. Good loft management is the answer, to many great flying lofts. There every week in the top end of the sheet, I was told never blame the birds, always look at the management. I guess it is the same in every sport.
The Janssen brothers worked as a team, each having their own daily tasks. and this was 365 days a year.

@devo I agree totally
A few reasons really. I have raced from there several times. Had some good races but also some bad ones. The main reason is I have no intention of flying over the channel and for me it would be in a different direction for my birds. It would be South to North where as all my other races are East to West. But also marking is during the day on a Thursday, I work 6 days a week so couldn’t get to marking. Also it’s only 109 miles for me. The cost was £3 per bird with the 3Cs. I can race 168 miles East to West with a Friday evening marking at 50p a bird. A no brainer really.Tony-P- wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 9:19 pm That,s good Andy why don't you send your birds to Guernsey mate

No I don’t Tony but I do watch some of his utube clips. I used to race down in Cornwall back in the 90s so know a few of the Cornish flyers some like John who this year have joined the 3Cs. They race in a different section but are obviously in the open results.Tony-P- wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 9:40 pmNo Brainer Andy I can see why now mate.Andy wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 9:38 pmA few reasons really.
