When i come over to spain, i visit the local market. And buy packets of oregano leaves, for some of the lads back home. I used this myself for a tea, i would boil some leaves for 10 minutes. Then leave to go cold, then put it in the drinkers for the birds.
To prepare oregano leaf tea for racing pigeons, use 15g of dried oregano leaves (or a generous dessert-spoonful) per 1 liter of boiling water. I tend to use the Dosto Oregano Oil from Tumley Lofts.
I use it in the water, it's aimed at the same things you mentioned!

Tony i would give it to the birds to start, 2 times in the week. Then just down to once a week, yes good for young birds. Also good in the breeding season. pumping into the youngsters.
