On handling some that have had it for 5 days now - I can't believe the weight loss. I have had birds fly 600+ miles come home with more weight on them.
I am going to buck the trend and feed them an energy corn. Every one says feed light and I havre been feeding a depurative up to now but that's not making any sense to me at the moment. Surerly going in to it and coming out of it an energy corn must be more beneficial?
What are others thoughts......

.
Have tried it every way Dave, but if you are talking the energy mix that they sell, well it is small seeds anyway and easily digestible, and would make sense. But at the end of the day the birds that survive, are I.M.O. more robust. And when you get them over it, I have no fear of putting them in the baskets with others at the club. The birds that, get very severe weight loss, are usually the ones that don't survive, and sometimes you have to be kind.
I agree Albert. As with any virus there is no cure. Birds with good immune system don’t get it, or if they do not badly. I’ve never had a good pigeon die of an illness.
The lofts that seem to suffer most and have the greatest losses are those that are constantly treating for this and that. If you prop up sick pigeons that don’t recover themselves within a couple of days or so I can guarantee these will be the first to go down in racing.

As I posted earlier Dave. Feed as you would normally feed. It doesn’t make any dywhat you feed if they are bringing it back up. But feeding a food with very little nutritional value certainly won’t help them recover. If I’m ill, very rare, the last thing I’d do is stop eating.
Thanks lads, I am pleased to report that They are all coming out of it now and looking good . Might even let them out at the w.end. Just need to get a bit of condition back on them then back into training.

So for any new starters looking in....
The above is my argument for natural immunity.
6 or 7 days and they are over it themselves. Yes, I've lost one but weigh that up against a constant barage of chemicals going into their body by way of medication and there is no contest.
Imo its likely to be how ybs was bought on in the first place by stupid amount of chemicals in them when it is totally unnecessary

Thanks Mark, I do like frazers products but it is a probiotic similar to many other brands.
I used Harkavit super plus but I think any probiotic is beneficial to them during ybs
