How old are the youngsters you are getting, Chris? If they are pretty small you might leave some peas in all day for a week or two while they are still growing. They'll only eat them if they are hungry.
I think the first month of a squeaker's life is where the foundation is laid.
That mix will be fine, but make sure they get a good start.

I’m not getting any as of yet mate, I am getting given some old birds I’ll use for stock for next year and go from there just for the first month when I move them away I like to keep them full
So they grow, just my personal view ha

I do make up a similar sort of thing in a small batch for the young birds for racing.
