Over the years of the sport, there as been mixed feelings on different familes of birds. So what are you thoughts? This video explains what is coming through on data, so do you agree or disagree? If you can give the reason why.

I agree with the principle of genetics and therefore the dominating bloodlines but would put the origin of those bloodlines far earlier than the birds and names stated in the vid.
I could be wrong but the name "Kittle" has only been around for maybe 10 - 15 years and Jellema maybe 15-20 years.
At the end of the day they are just names that have had fairly recent success. Imo, the 'strain' or genetics of those birds predate any of the names mentioned.

I would agree with you Dave, I think the overall data of these birds. Are showing winners around the world, that are coming throgh off these genes. The likes of Harry from Jan Hooymann, also Kittle you must remember the likes of PIPA push these birds and promote offspring from them. In all the top OLR around the world. But i feel a good way of promoting the sport worldwide.

I wouldn't say that PIPA has been around that long either Dev.
You say it's a good way of "promoting the sport"
I say just another way of someone making money out of the sport through clever, comprehensive, international advertising...... and yes. I am an old sceptic

Here it is Dave.

PIPA (Pigeon Paradise) was officially formed as a hobby-project and informational news website by Nikolaas Gyselbrecht in 2000. Originally dedicated to tracking race results, PIPA eventually evolved into the world's most exclusive global auction house and news platform for elite racing pigeons. While PIPA operates as the premier auction and information hub rather than a club where you race pigeons yourself, the actual sport of pigeon racing itself has a much longer history, dating back to Belgium in the early 19th century

A new fancier maybe fooled into thinking this video is true. BUT all these these families are based on other families of birds, or did they did 'just appear' from thin air?
Pigeon racing is ALL about percentages. If these families make up the biggest percentage of the entry, is a safe bet to think that they are most likely going to produce the winner?
The statement about OLRs being won by these families is also mis-leading the likes of Koopman was entering 100's in some OLRs, is it a surprise he won a few of them?
Some of the names in the video are now names of the past Vandenabeele for one.

With international air transport the 'latest and best' are all over the world as soon as they appear.
In our shed we have all sorts. The Billion Dollar Baby is Van Den Bulck, the grizzle is a Jos Thone', I've got a cock this this year off imported Eijerkamp pigeons and the Free Beer's mother is half Gaby half Heremans.
And of course there's the Pitbull cock from Darren May's pigeons.
Mix em all up and in a generation you've got pure nothing. :D
Strains are a fallacy. The legend of yesteryear, Leo Heremans, never had a pure strain. He was always hunting for something better to improve them.

I think this video, is up todate data, 2 weeks ago in the final of the Victoria falls OLR. The first 3 birds were bred through Kittle lines, so OLR all over the world data is gathered on the breeding of the winners or maybe the top 5 in each race. So this is showing data of the breeding for 2026.

I wonder how many birds in the race were Kittle lines? It looks impressive seeing the first 3 birds home were, but if a large percentage of the entry were of those lines not so. The data can be very misleading. ;)
