Just my thoughts, when starting in this sport. Its not a case of just getting a shed, and start putting racing pigeons in, There is more to it than that, and i will tell you now. You learn about this sport, everyday you are involved. I was 15 years of age and i would go to the marking station, I would sit and learn the importance of what the sport was about. Watching the members putting their birds through and into the race basket. Different faces told different storys. The top flyer of the club, was surronded by other members trying to pick up tips i guess. When the birds were all marked up, we would sit and wait for the transporter. The same members every week would load the bird onto the transporter. Some nights it was raining but we just got on with it. I think this is were you learn the basics of the sport, but i would use this time to find out more about racing pigeons. Also i wanted to know more and more. so i would ask the members for any books i could lend. Internet was not around then so reading was important. Also sitting down with other members, asking so many questions. And hoping i got the right answers, but were they the right answers who knows.?
