I sent 31 had 20 I think 18 secs

One sticks in my head for some reason was the year before I sent 17 cocks 7 came head height through the houses all went for the board only 4 got on it
4 previous fed winners on that 7 that’s was special for me as they were coming board height from when I spotted them under the telephone wires

Ya funny how races stick in ya mind in Kent 2 yb turned up n they was flicking each others wings I clocked em Kevin doughty said what u think he wasn't racing that day I said pair of wankxrs wasn't trying 2,3 mins went by n boom a team of racers hit loft they was lamp post height I clocked 3 of em we went club started hearing times Kevin's looking at me n I take first 5 by miles fed results comes out 1,2 fed 33ypm clear 3 4 5 fed 1ypm in front of custom house ,,the 2 wankxrs were way clear lol.

How do people waste no time trapping or little to no time trapping and any tips on how to get a good trap

Best investment I made when setting up was a portable aviary 3m square or thereabouts. I roll it in front of one of the traps in the YB section and so when I want YB in the loft through the trap I blow the feed whistle and usher them through. No exceptions, I’m boss. A year on and those yearlings do as they did last year - hit the trap and a tap the landing board with my cane they’re straight it, no messing.

I had no real experience in pigeons to fall back on last year, but I’m a pretty decent working dog trainer, so I just applied the same principles; be calm, but be the boss. What was interesting was that even though the aviary is no longer confining them and they can fly away if they choose, they act as if the aviary is still there as soon as I approach with the cane and tap it. The early training stuck with them.

Footnote of warning, I thought I’d nailed trapping last year and was stood 30 yards away from the loft when the first bird landed in one of the races. Not being cocky, I just thought he’d trap straight in. Instead he stood there spinning and driving until I realised what was happening and approached the trap. I got beaten into 2nd place by 10 seconds. Lesson learned!

Thanks Neil. In a world where I obviously don’t know very much at all it’s nice to have fallen back on common sense and have it work for me. I’m paranoid about them not sitting on the trap or loft as the first time the resident female sparrow hawk hits them she’ll make the loft a regular takeaway venue.

Pigeons are creatures of habit Jack - and what they learn young sticks with them forever.
You've seen our loft and the best way into our loft was across the neighbour's garden, over the back of the loft
Therefore the birds needed to somersault arse over tit and attack the front of the loft without bring able to see it
So, to bring on habit they need reward
As YB that tends to be feed related, as OB that can be both food and sexually related.
Pre-season every time my cocks went in the basket the hen was waiting on return
I'd recommend the same now
