What's members thoughts on not giving black minerals when breeding, I've stopped using the Kirkpatrick black mineral because it gets damp, the only thing that my stock birds get is the pink minerals in the clay pots Columbine ones 6 in a tray from the corn shop & grit . My ybs in the nest so far look good to me, do you think I'm doing the right thing by not giving the black minerals, just think it causes problems if left over night, the clay pots I take out & store in my feed bins after the morning & afternoon feed so it's not left out.
I probably would still use it but it's been so damp this time of year.
Minerals
Never used either of the above during rearing in 55+ years of keeping birds. I've used black minerals in the past but as others have said not in damp weather. Used pink minerals and pickstones. Yes mate I do, when I said neither, I was talking about salt & electrolytes. I've fed many different pellets over the years but feel they aren't a big factor in rearing good youngsters.
