It's something I've thought about doing this year, I felt I did a lot more things right last season, but feeding still wasn't upto game!

Can I ask do pigeons take just enough say around an ounce or would they gorge if hopper is left, would you just fill hopper full & leave it in situ until empty, or would you take away if they are just getting into the system. All a bit awkward if your loft isn't at your house.

100 Miles 20 paddy rice 20 barley 60 mix
200 miles 10 paddy rice 10 barley 80 mix
300 miles 24 hr fats at lib before race
400 miles 48 hr fats at lib before race
This worked great he won sprints middle n long distance
But hopper was only replenished once it was all eaten

would you use a Gaby mix or Beyers for the 100/200.
For the 60/80%

That's the only thing that worries me, I have trays down when they get a drink or start to leave barley I take the trays out until the following feed next day.

I have been trying it out
I filled my drinker ( hopper) with only barley day 1 then added a mix with 25 percent barley to to top it back up to the original level each day
Sunday no top up so they clear the barley
Not a million miles off how I have mine at the moment. I have thought about exchanging the barley for paddy rice, I was chatting to Stefan Mertons about it ages ago and he thinks they’re less likely to put weight on using paddy. I also remember years ago watching a video with Henry Gonzales ( think that was his name) from Bristol way he also preferred paddy rice.
