Give or take 12 club's in the West of England Combine not sure on the radius Neil.
You can only beat what's in front of you, yes at some point clubs from different amalgamation will have to join up as with falling membership financially that's what going to happen, either that or fold altogether.

Feds 30 miles long about 18 miles wide
Down to 3 clubs now about 400,600 birds on a good day conveyed by Peterborough central fed south rd
North rd feds are good birds 1500 to 2000b
Both big radius 70 miles long 50 miles wide roughly.

What size are members fed as in membership to radius
We have a very small radius 12 miles wide but have lost 800 pigeons a week from 5/6 years ago with members who didn’t win much going south others fed up with politics or natural causes
To be honest I think unless they change it’s stuffed or needs to amalgamate . The trouble is I think it was great fair racing but the membership isn’t there now days
I hate the thought of a big fed radius as you pretty much know who has won before a lib but it has to change
We are down to 6 clubs now and all getting smaller
I can’t even say I have a fed winner anymore it’s getting to embarrassing
How can you have a fed winner against 600 odd pigeons when only recently it was 1500
What other members feds like how many clubs in them to the radius

That’s a real shame. In Norfolk we have two NR feds one covers Norfolk & Suffolk so probably 50 miles wide and maybe 70 miles deep, a good week around 1700b bad week 700, then theirs the Norwich Fed with a 20 mile radius a good week around 1000 birds bad week around 500. There’s also a small south rd fed. Wasn’t so many years ago the Norfolk NR fed were sending upto 5000 birds a week and East Anglian Fed (SR) pushing 6000, having said that I’ve always flown in feds with big radius.

We’ve flown in 4 local Feds over the years only one survives and that is a shadow of its former self due to a collapse in membership, fact of life I’m afraid it doesn’t seem that long since 1 Sheffield club (club not Fed) sent the thick end of 1000 birds a week

The remaining clubs?feds are going to have to amalgamate and put old differences aside if members want to carry on, they must also be prepared to accept inevitable price rises, fewer birds mean increased costs per bird

I’m afraid the days of big birdages homing to a small area negating the effect of the wind are long gone this is also the case in the Low Countries it’s a case of accepting what is on offer adapting or packing it in if it doesn’t suit

Norfolk Suffolk North rd here because we're short flyers we hardly get a 150 mile race never mind 200 miles ,,
Just a shame how things have gone last 10 years ,,
But racing ain't the same now .

We seem to be stuck in a situation each year, the race program is set for both ob & yb in the combine, races are supported early on for both.
The problem is when the bigger clubs start NFC, BICC then the inland program doesn't get supported, then they'll pull the longer races because financial it's not viable to go.

Feds like keeping birdage price low so that's why I see so many short races ,,iv they want more distance then birdage must cover costs but lads rather race short and keep cost low ,so that's why here most races are 100 to 150 miles .

In time will there be any point sprinting 100 miles into a 40 mile radius with 800 birds

Some of them feds in the midlands like Glos are sending poor birdage in a big radius would they not be better going in with the 2 larger feds ?

Probably need a totally different type of bird altogether
Plus flying down west coast be much tougher route than flying down east coast on north rd.
