Pre season build-up to racing.

I was wondering what other ppl included in their pre race build-up from breeding to racing....

Was thinking of pairing up the 1st/2nd week in Feb.
Floating stock eggs under the racers and letting em all rear a pair of ybs.
Last year I tried the 3rd week of Feb but found the bicc races start quite early and I was panicking coz I didn't get enough time to get them trained - old birds were ok but I would like the yearlings to have at least 2 races down to the coast before sending em over the channel.
Maybe that's not wholly necessary but it makes me feel a bit better about putting them over the water for their 1st national race. At least they would have seen the seaside.

My plan is allways to make sure there super fit before I rd train them ,,
Mine loft fly each day unless it's heavey rain normal rain they must fly in ,
Rd training is different approach I try to train on the best days possible but some yrs I do risk tosses on dodgy days ,
There's no system here everything is done on day to day approach and I work along the weather and gut instinct with what I see ,,
I do make sure birds ain't fat and make sure there very fit ,birds ain't aloud to land during loft flying for me fat people need to rest during exercise fit people complete the task and rest afterwards, another thing I love loft flying when the wind is bending the trees to me it's like doing lamp posts when you train you jog you sprint between lamp posts this is great fitness preparation I like to see birds come across loft at 70mph then low against wind doing 30mph 1 hour of this knocks them in two great condition.

It's not my way Neil,,I like birds to have a real preparation camp ,just like a boxer having a 8 week camp

I don't know how tough it was in Boston, he done better at the distance races ,,they way the birds trapped you could not compete here under 300 miles losing time on trap surpose 400,500 miles u can lose time trapping but up to 300 miles o wouldn't want to lose 1 second on the trap .

Maybe it's different over there, I've watched a lot of his clips on YouTube & the trapping for me was pretty poor.

How much does breeding off the racers knock em back.
Mine are loft flying now too Ant but my aim was to get them fit before breeding so if I breed off them how long will it take to get them back to race fitness after taking the babies away?

It’s awful my clubs down to about 9 of us now but still has 4 combine winners in it
If I lost time like him I’m finished

Yes probably the same as my club, probably 4/5 send over the Channel with the bigger organisation.
The rest of us just race inland program, as you said if you'd trap like that you be toast.

Mine have been going out every other day if I’ve been home during the day, come January I’ll try and get them out everyday, once paired early February they’ll go on open hole ( unless the weather is really bad). I’ve found doing like this they need very little road training to start with.

I have stock birds so racers only rear after racing if there super racers once retired then I have baby's from them ,,
If I get a super racers I take 2 yb of them after racing and put them in aviary for a later date.
