For old birds we don't train 2 year olds and above they just go right into 90/100 miles and that is treated as their training. Yearlings we run the gauntlet a couple of times. Regards exercise we just carry on as normal, twice a day, some days you get hit some days you dont. If its really bad we have been known to keep them in a couple of days but ultimately you just have to live with them. For young birds probably best thing we do is train as early as possible in morning. For the longer tosses we basket night before. That's only real way we've found a reduction in hits. Lot of lads up here train in mass and don't go past about 25 miles, understand why they do it but don't think it does the pigeons any good at all.
Yeah once round Morecambe bay they've still about 45 miles to do to get into west Cumbria. Fells to the right, the sea to the left and the strip of land in between that the birds have to come through had at one time (I'm not sure if it's still the case) the highest population of peregrines in the world per square mile.
