I called the bloke and he said that the falcons were tearing into them and there were pigeons going everywhere. This might explain why the race was a crash.
I am quite lucky in the circumstances. I have a fair few of mine back or coming back. I hear some only have 1 or 2.

Hope he recovers mate, always hard after an attack I have one now still wont come out of loft if I put him out he just runs back in and that was a few years ago when he got hit

Shame mate hope he recovers well and does go onto prove himself worthy, never bothers me whether I win lose or draw I raced for the love not the prizes they were just a bonus, loved the thrill of waiting and watching them tuck in and dive
