You'll have forgotten more about feeding pigeons than I know mate :lol:
But yes I would be feeding them something with basically no protein in (as protein is free for them all day long with the beans if they choose) before work. Good thing with that is I'm pretty sure that's basically what you do now isn't it? In terms of leaving them something to clean up once it breaks daylight? That way you aren't tweaking a winning system too much and theoretically you should still get a good exercise period of an evening. And the beans are there should the pigeons require them and your safe in the knowledge their not gonna gorge on them.

Imo there’s no definitive feeding system there are too many variables such as time of year , task ahead moult etc
What’s not in doubt is that a balanced diet is vital that provides optimal nutrition I think I’ve mentioned it before but Carta Carna used to produce feed that was tailored to whatever was needed and took all the guesswork out of %s the trouble with it was getting birds used to eating it and if birds were fed on the transporter due to longer races or holdovers getting them to eat normal corn, I’ll have a look and see if it’s still made

Yes but it looks like they now only make dog and cat food, think it was Canadian
