Garlic cloves

How long is recommended to leave them in the drinker before you throw them out

I used to prick the cloves with a needle put them in a bottle with a screw top fill with water leave for a couple of days and add 100 ml of the liquid to the drinkers

This is the recipe for Dave Allen’s Tonic
INGREDIANTS

4 bulbs of garlic (bulbs consisting of about 10 cloves) peel and crushed

4 lemons cut each into 4

3 desert spoons of Columbine tea

50ml aqueous iodine (Lugols available from chemist)

1/2 kilo brown sugar



METHOD

Boil 2 ltr water add lemons and simmer for 30 minutes

Add the Columbine tea and simmer for 10 minutes

Add the iodine and simmer for 10 minutes

Add sugar and simmer for 10 minutes

Turn off heat, cover and leave for 48 hours.

Remove lemon

Add garlic and stir well

Bottle and refrigerate for 7 days to let the garlic infuse with the mix

Shake well before use.



USEAGE

30ml to 5 ltr drinking water (100 birds) for 7 days straight then twice a week

All season but also during the moult, it will keep for weeks. Word of warning, it smells pretty bad when you’re making it if you can do it outside or you’ll not be popular with the missus
