only spoke to one fancier he got 25/25 from 88 miles. He was 1st & 2nd club. His 2nd bird was a grandson of 1st BICC Pau 616 miles.

I sent 11 this week. Kept 6 back fom last week who made hard work of it.
With one coming early Sunday, I had all 11 home - well chuffed!

There’s a hell of a lot of good fanciers losing good birds down here. So much so that they re-ran the previous race last week.

One chap lost 20 out of 23. Personally I dropped 3 out of 41 - and won 1st club 1st fed as it happens - but this year for me was always about building a team and my plans in that respect have taken a bit of a bashing it has to be said.

I’ve not done darkness so I’ll probably stop them soon anyway now that they’ve had some experience.

Out of interest where were your South Road birds flying from ??

A fancier I bred a few birds for this year got 26/28 on the day (Sunday) from Melton Mowbray flying 100 miles, he was 5th & 6th club flying 12 miles further than the fancier that beat him. His first bird was one I bred him from my Westrops.

Today I let my team go beside the Yorkshire middle route liberation I live know where near this organisation I wanted to get my baby's shook up before mnfc I let mine go with the liberation but they was struggling to keep with them ,,I had ets when I got home I had 23 drop together and 37from 38 on the clock 38th come 1hour or so later ,my friend called from the Yorkshire middle route and they had a shocking race today ,,its crazy I was at lib site 7am and the convoyers done a fantastic job and the liberation was fantastic my birds returned brilliant so inbetween me and the fed something went massively wrong it's mind blowing how this happens so often now.

Sorry I'm not keeping up with posts on here at the moment, just not in the right head space.
We've had some dreadful youngbird races this season, I don't think I've ever lost so many pigeons as I have this season. We've had some pretty decent winning velocities but the birds have been coming back in dribs and crabs right across the Fed with a lot of birds going down. Some members are getting pretty decent returns while others are getting hammered.
This weeks race was slightly better as far as returns were concerned but the velocities were all over the place, the Federation winner is in our club doing 1472ypm, the 2nd bird, also in our club was doing 1400ypm. I was 13th club doing 1281ypm so you can see how quickly the velocities drop off, we seem get a batch that get away and record reasonable speeds while the others get dragged all over the place.
We've got 4 races left and I have to say I won't be sorry to finish this season.
I will get round to putting some of our results up on the Littlehampton RPC topic at some stage.

Hearing this week on week all over uk and Ireland. Two old boys in one of the fed clubs resigned apparently on Saturday - one heavy loss too many and called it a day there and then.

Something is causing this. All over the world there are some reports of catastrophic losses this year, and some reports of great returns, never been better.
I am happy that I am in the second category.
I've talked to a lot of blokes all over the south east of Australia. There are a couple of things I have been told repeatedly by flyers who have had serious losses. And repeated losses.
I know successful flyers who have not made it to the end of the season.
I have formed some opinions about why some people are not just having a bad race, which can happen to anyone. Some people have had several bad training tosses and then several bad races.
I see it as a combination of things. One or two factors, maybe get away with it. But add another one or two factors, I think you have the recipe for empty perches.
I'm not going to say what I think the causes are, because I will be told I am WRONG and it's not worth an argument.
But the same things do seem to be common to a lot of sad stories.

Everyone is guessing, of course, but powerful mobile phone masts and wind farms are two common suggestions that keep cropping up.

Well done Ant, that's how to do it. I take it you haven't raced the YBs in the club at all this year. It will be interesting to see how the come in the National.
The York birds were racing from Huntingdon 117 miles today with the GYA. Up at 11.50 Light South wind. The leading birds into York made around 1500 but there were big gaps and lots missing.
