Yes ready for when the weather improves corn sorted this past week so will collect it when delivered, pigeons been on barley for a while, pigeons out most day's over the winter.
Just need the Combine to sort out the race program & hopefully the hawks will leave mine alone during training & racing.

Delayed due to circumstances of possibly moving the lofts then not having to do so
It’s lead me to a slightly different system which may be easier long term if it works
Then after months of looking at corns/ brands I have gone back to what I had before and purchased it yesterday with a slight change following a bit of a experiment with fats on different days on the ybs
I would think Mikes sick of looking at carbs fats protein ratios each morning from my messages but he has the dropping photos to look forward to over his breakfast shortly so sure that will please him

I was wondering do you feel you are learning a lot from his guidance? Are you picking up on what he is looking for?

See the combine have come up with a better program now Dave. Only 2 Stoney Cross. There are 3 Eastbourne races as their longest, 118 miles for me. Still not as good as the 3 counties though. Also of course the youngsters are going down the leg.

The widowhood’s have been rearing either a single or pair of youngsters, apart from one cock who’s hen took to long to lay so only sat the eggs. And of course the two gay cocks who have just been left to it. The hens were removed over a four day period, depending on the age of the youngsters, over a week ago. The cocks were left to finish rearing the youngsters. All but 4 youngsters have now been weaned, the last 4 will over the next couple of days. For now I have weaned the youngsters in with the widowhood hens and although they’ve been away for a week or so they’re still filling any youngster up who asks for it.
Although it’s been frosty the cocks have been going out briefly in the mornings while I clean them out. They will be repaired in a couple of weeks and allowed to sit for around 10 days. As they have already been paired I would expect all the hens to lay within a couple of days of each other. They will then be getting ready for the start of the season.
I haven’t treated for anything.

Bearing some unforeseen disaster should be ready to go on 12th April. Celibate hens flying nicely for 25 -30 minutes a day. Widowhood cocks paired and on open hole at the moment so hopefully will fly themselves fit without having to worry about to much basket work.

To be honest Neil, I very rarely find any bodies when I've had a hit, just have birds come in injured or not turn up at all. She has hit birds in the garden, on the loft, or on the house, she has even been in the loft before. But most the time she has them when they are flying low above the fields behind the loft. As I said, last weekend they'd only been out 5 minutes and just flew straight through the middle of them.

Sorry Trev is it a hawk or peregrine? I never had a hawk hit them flying only dropping or when I use to let them out paired where I think they took there eye off the ball
I have mine up in the sky or straight on the board and in I would say 15 seconds from the first one hitting the board to the last one bring in
Unfortunately it means I can’t enjoy birds as I did when I raced before but it can be enjoyable still
I was just thinking it may be a option just for this period for you then when the attacks slow you could follow your open hole system

Definitely a Sparrow hawk Neil, thankfully, I think if it was a peregrine I'd probably pack it in. At least I know with the Sparrow hawk that she will disappear for most of the racing season. She certainly doesn't only hit them on the loft, she almost appears to be trying to drive them down. I tried them out again yesterday, half the birds wouldn't come out, most of those that did went up for a fly and within 10 minutes she was there again some of the birds just hit the loft wherever they could to try and get back in, the ones that were still flying went so that I almost lost sight of them, the hawk just continued to circle around for a bit waiting for them come back down, eventually both she and the birds disappeared !! I haven't gone through them to see who's missing yet but did have some empty perches last night !!
