To be honest the inland pigeons haven't done too bad this year considering we've about 3 We've been lucky to stumble across a good hen and she's just about carried us inland. Distance wise it's a bit of a rebuild year, we sent what we thought were a decent team to NFC Sigogne last year 600 plus miles and to be honest we got our pants pulled down. They'd done well at combine level (think 2nd combine was best position) they were decent reliable birds at that level, hopefully we'll learn from it next time we have a go but it won't be this year

That to me is what pigeon racing is about, breeding birds to go the distance, and when you manage to get a good one, especially if it scores a few times, the feeling of achievement is fantastic.

He was Worcester Federation Champion Pigeon of the Year 2005

2nd National Ace Sprint Champion of the RPRA 0-250 miles 2005

He was a good one for sure

I had birds win more races, but they raced over a longer period than he did

I had other birds win the Worcester Fed Title, and the West Midlands Title - but he was 2nd National Ace where the others weren't

Thing with "Houdini" was he was a menace. His strike-rate was almost bulletproof.

There's 9 performances above, he had another one too but I can't put my hand on that one - and he never returned from his 12th race. He was equally at home though on a dead sky, East wind at 12 degrees as he was racing at 1800ypm on a baking hot day. Nothing ever fazed him.

When he won 1st Fed 3285 birds that was Newton Abbot with the Worcester Fed on a SE wind. Logically you can't race out the West Country with East in the wind and be the furthest fliers in the East and win that race. But he and a loftmate were timed 3 secs apart to be over a minute clear of the 3rd place in that race. That's why he was a menace. He could do anything. If you looked for him in the sky on a race day you were screwed. I used to watch his door and his door alone because you blink and you'd miss the sod. Thats how he got his name. You looked for him and he was gone

The hen of the pair "Princess" is 1135248. Houdini's Mum was 1135247. They were nest-sisters
