Race team selected Sunday after the last old bird race in July all moved on straight away here
Results in the loft book decides all so it’s pretty much sorted with a couple of races to go
You may know by now I have no interest in strains / fashion
Worse thing for b me would be not moving on old birds then losing loads of ybs and ending up keeping old birds that were average through fear of only having half a dozen to race
I had 4 badly hit by peregrines this year I put one to stock I gave 3 fed winners away
I kept 3 old birds as the rest were average or ruined that was before I had raced a yb so it could have gone badly wrong but what went wasn’t to the standard I want
If you drop standards to fill a box I think it’s a error for sprinting same for stock

For me Devo the results in my book are all that matters I am not a natural fancier who can pick a good pigeon so it’s method and results only that concern me

Hello NeilA, very true in what you've said in your post, I think that the only way forward, sentiment shouldn't play a part you need to be clinical .
Anthony Webster will probably say the same thing, if you could look back at the old posts from Chat then this has been visited on more than 1 occasion ,keep things moving forward young pigeons in the loft not old ones that haven't produced should be taken out, test & test them again is the way forward & I think next year I will be doing the same anything that doesn't tow the line will be gone .

I think about 3 years ago of my 17 cocks I had 11 special ones the other 6 were very average
Last year I had 8 from 20 but the peregrines wrecked me
To be honest the extra I had made no difference to results just might aswell not had them
Obviously middle to long distance is totally different but in sprints if there not there as a yearling 99 percent of the time there not going to change the world as a 2 year old , maybe the odd card but not in the batch each week

We race to 210 miles but have a 285 miles so I send to that race so that’s kind of what I think is maximum sprint
Middle distance I guess from there to 400 miles then distance from 450 ish
But others may think differently

Before Brexit the Combine used to race across the Channel from Carentan down to as far as Bergerac maybe longer, Andy on here will probably correct me if I'm wrong. But unfortunately it's not financially viable & member's not wishing to have vet's visits etc to comply.

I haven't got any hope that they will change just very disappointed with the approach from the Combine. Sorry to go of topic gents, yes to get back to it again keep things turning over, youth is the key & good well managed pigeons & a bit of luck.

Hopeless racing Neil. The combine radius is 70mls North to South and 20mls East to West. When the birds are flying just 34mls coming into this radius it’s definitely wind related where the winners are.

Hitting your head against a brick wall to be honest Andy unless the winds there for you
I believe all feds will go the same way with the membership age
