Well. I used to think that for racing you should cross breed again and not in line. But over the past years i seen alot of breeders going total inbreeding even for racing
Usually blizzard king kittel gets paired up with kittel again and they all do perfect
And after seeing my uncle win 1st and 2nd ace bird in one of the biggest sections in germany with 2 youngsters bred from double grandson x double granddaughter josef so also complete inbreeding. im not to sure anymore if i care that much about cross breeding or in line for racing.

It should also be remembered that it will also keep any faults or bad traits in your pigeons. That said it is the practice used by most fanciers.

Breeding is alot of trial and error anyways imo. We had a hen that hasn't breed any decent winner for several years with different cocks until the last 2 years we found a cock that seem to breed top youngsters with her and she's now given us several 1st with that cock

I would say it is the same with race horses, hit or miss in breeding a very fine balance. But i would say that is were the art of breeding comes into play.

100% i always keep in mind that im still Young and only been having pigeons myself since 3 years and i think for that i been doing pretty Well

Leon there is a auction coming up in December on Brieftauben site. The guy was a auctioneer he also kept horses and racing pigeons. He bought the best so i am keeping a watch for his auction, he passed away this year. I have been trying to find the details of this auction.

I try to pair best to best ,I'm not a pedigree person really
But if I'm buying I want to see 6 winners in first 8 birds in pedigree, not interested in auntie ,uncle,niece,nephew must be of the actual bird n reared by the champion not floated under pumpers on bull system them birds are useless every time ,
I don't line breed or inbreeding for racing but I will put son x mother and keep a hen back to replace the mum in future, iv done that recently a good hen of mine had 4x1st racing she as bred 3 different treble fed winners n g mother to a treble fed winner so I put her best racing son over her and kept the daughter for future,
With breeding I find the crosses of 2 top animals don't matter if its pigeon, dog,horse it works
As for racing inbred birds I keep it simple we never see usa send out a team of hill Billy's to Olympics.
